Shobeir pulls the plug

EgyptianSoccer.com - EFA board member Ahmed Shobeir has called for the resignation of all the Egyptian Football Association board members along with Youth and Sports Minister Ali-eldeen Hilal.

Shobeir claimed that most of the EFA board members were in full awareness of the incident that occurred last week that has since been labeled as the “Romanian Scandal” and may have even granted an approval.

The National team and Al-Ahly’s former star said that even if a few members did not know about what happened in Barasova, they should take the blame for negligence. He also added that an Egyptian member of the Romanian academy masterminded the scandal. Shobeir says that exaggerated costs in Romania have to be taken into account, and has praised the press for putting this story into light and saving over 70 thousand pounds of taxpayers money.

Lengthy debates took place in Egypt’s Parliament in the Youth and Sports delegation. A few members have already called for the resignation of the Youth and Sports minister, and his absence from the meeting raised a few question marks. Another meeting is set to take place on Sunday where the minister and all EFA board members will have to attend in order to defend themselves. Some members have even gone as far as requesting extraditing Talaat Shata, the controversial Egyptian businessman, from Romania.

The Egyptian Olympic team was tricked in to playing two exhibition games with Romanian second division club Tractorull Barasova, who were masquerading as the Romanian U-20 Olympic team. Shobeir and several parliament members view this as a complete mockery that has done nothing but defame Egypt’s name abroad.
